Art classes

A small room, a long table, and as many weeks as it takes to get good at looking. Children from three to twenty, in groups small enough that Preeya knows every hand at the table.

One email when it opens, and nothing else.

Three groups

Grouped by age rather than by ability, because a seven-year-old and a fifteen-year-old need different things from the same hour — and because a child should sit with children their own size.

Little hands

3–6 years old

Big brushes, big paper, and no expectation of staying inside anything. An adult is welcome to stay in the room.

Juniors

7–12 years old

Where the looking starts: proportion, shadow, mixing a colour instead of choosing one.

Teenagers

13–20 years old

Taken seriously. Portfolios, sustained pieces, and a say in what they work on.

What is taught

Watercolour painting

Washes, wet-on-wet and letting the water do half the work.

Included:
Paper, paints, brushes and an apron.
Bring:
Nothing — just clothes that may get painted on.

Bold colour on a real canvas, and a painting to take home.

Pencil drawing

Looking properly, then drawing what is actually there.

Included:
Paper and pencils.
Bring:
A sketchbook, if they have one they like.

Pottery and clay

Pinch pots, coils and slabs. Fired and ready a fortnight later.

Included:
Clay, tools, glazing and firing.
Bring:
Short nails and an old T-shirt.

One afternoon, one thing made: a print, a mask, a mobile, a lantern.

Included:
Every material for the project.

How it works

A place for the semester

Most families take the same hour every week for a whole semester — May to September, then November to March. The place is held for the term and every class is booked for you at once.

Paid on the day

Nothing is paid online. Each class is settled at the studio when you come, so a week missed is a week not paid for.

Or try one class

A single class first, with no semester attached, for THB 350. Most children know by the end of it.
